Professional CV advice

CV Knowhow are the leading career advice and CV writing service in the UK. Their expert writers and career coaches will be on hand at the event to offer CV advice and support. If you already have questions to ask CVKnowhow, write them down and one of their CV experts will happily give you all the advice you need at the event.

Check out below their top pre-event tips:

  • Bring your CV and details of the jobs you want to go for as this will enable us to check that your CV is suitable for what you want to use it for.
  • Make sure your CV does not contain any graphics; although they might look nice, they can move around a document when passed through online recruitment (ATS) systems and distort the information pulled from your CV.
  • Make sure your CV is up to date and contains all the details of your work experience, internships, voluntary work and recent education, including information about modules and dissertation.

Make the most of the fair

At the Summer Graduate Fair there will be quality jobs, internships and placements on offer, but equally, there will be lots of competition for every opportunity. Make sure that you stand out from the crowd!

Dress to impress

Dress as though you are going to an interview – employers want to picture you working for them not on campus.

Practice and research

Research the companies that you are most interested in meeting. You will make an impression with your knowledge of what they can offer and how you could fit into their organisation.

Think about what you are going to say when you approach an employer - first impressions count! Practice a few ice breakers to ensure they remember you.

Fools rush in

Make sure that you don’t rush up to your ideal employer before you are comfortable with what you are going to say. Speak to a few other employers first and you will be prepared for the types of questions they may ask you in return.
